Making Northwest Ohio More Affordable
Northwest Ohioans work hard for every dollar they earn. Marcy is fighting to make life more affordable for working families — taking on the powerful interests driving up the cost of everyday goods, while ending Washington’s corporate welfare that uses taxpayer dollars to bankroll giveaways for Billionaires, big corporations, and the well-connected. Marcy is fighting to:
Keep American Tax Dollars in American Communities by opposing foreign bailouts and endless wars that put Wall Street and foreign governments ahead of Northwest Ohio.
Lower Skyrocketing Utility Bills with an all-of-the-above energy approach that modernizes our aging grid, meets growing demand, and delivers reliable, affordable power for families and the industries that drive our regional economy. She’s also fighting to make massive data center companies pay their fair share for the power and water they consume instead of passing those costs onto ratepayers.
Put Homeownership Back Within Reach for hardworking families who are working, saving up, and doing everything their parents and grandparents did — but still can’t afford to buy a home. Marcy is taking on Billionaire and corporate investors buying up homes and driving up prices while working to expand the supply of affordable housing so more families can put down roots in Northwest Ohio.
Make Quality Health Care More Affordable and Accessible by taking on insurance companies and Big Pharma who are raking in massive profits while working people sink into medical debt. She is fighting to fully fund Medicare and Medicaid, restore Affordable Care Act tax credits, lower prescription drug prices, and protect families from surprise medical bills.
Lower the Cost of Child and Elder Care so no family has to choose between caring for a loved one and paying the bills. Whether you’re a young parent paying for daycare or a son or daughter looking after an aging parent, at some point all of us will need someone to care for us. Marcy is fighting to lower the cost of child care and long-term care for aging and disabled loved ones, because caring for family shouldn’t be a privilege reserved for the wealthy.
Protect Social Security and Medicare by demanding accountability for our tax dollars and standing up to Washington politicians who want to raid the benefits seniors spent a lifetime earning to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy.
Jobs/Manufacturing/Labor
The daughter of a union organizer at Champion Spark Plug and a father who worked at Toledo Jeep, Marcy is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with organized labor and the hardworking men and women who build, make, and grow the things that power our region. That’s why she led the fight against bad trade deals like NAFTA that shipped Ohio jobs overseas, opposed the Wall Street bailout, and pushed both Democrats and Republicans to crack down on China’s unfair trade practices.
That fight for Northwest Ohio’s workers carries into the next generation, too. Marcy believes building a good life shouldn’t require a four-year degree. If you’re willing to work hard, you deserve a fair shot at a good-paying job and the opportunity to build a secure future right here in Northwest Ohio. That’s why she’s investing in Northwest Ohio’s workforce – to bring good-paying jobs home, end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, and expand workforce training so our workers are prepared to thrive in the industries of the future.
Keeping Northwest Ohio Safe and Secure
Marcy believes securing our border is a shared American responsibility — one we can solve if we work together to enforce our immigration laws, deport violent criminals, and give law enforcement the resources they need — all while protecting due process, accountability, and the rule of law.
Marcy has never been afraid to stand up to her own party to keep Northwest Ohio safe and secure. That’s why she has backed bipartisan and Republican-led legislation to strengthen border security, hire more than 10,000 Border Patrol agents, and secured funding for the Border Patrol station in Ottawa County and the 180th Fighter Wing’s Northern Border mission.
Agriculture
Marcy has spent her career standing up for the farmers who feed America — taking on the food monopolies, voting for every major Farm Bill, and helping open new biofuel markets that put more money back in farmers’ pockets.
Family farms are the backbone of Northwest Ohio, and Marcy is working to keep them that way. She’s fighting to grow more of our food here at home, support small and family-owned farms and create the economic opportunities they need to preserve Northwest Ohio’s proud agricultural heritage for generations to come.
Lake Erie
Our region’s greatest natural resource, Lake Erie provides the drinking water that flows from our taps, supports the harbors that keep our economy moving, and sustains the fishing industry so many hardworking families depend on.
Marcy has worked with both parties to restore funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative – which helps protect Lake Erie from threats like toxic algal blooms – every time Washington politicians have tried to slash or eliminate it.
However, the fight is not over. Marcy will keep up the work to protect our drinking water, combat harmful algal blooms and invasive species, and preserve this vital resource for the people and communities that rely on it.
Veterans
Marcy has always believed that Congress’s duty to support the brave men and women who fought for our country and defended our freedom is our moral obligation as a nation. That’s why she spearheaded the effort to build the National World War II Memorial on the National Mall, an idea from a local postal carrier and WWII veteran of the battle of Saint Lô that’s now one of the most visited sites in our nation’s Capital.
She also helped pass the PACT Act, marking the largest expansion of benefits and services for veterans in more than 30 years and secured funding for new state of the art VA clinics across northern Ohio.
But too many of our veterans are still struggling, and that’s why Marcy’s fighting to ensure every veteran can get the quality care they’ve earned through their service and sacrifice.
Cleaning up Political Corruption
Marcy agrees that too many politicians in Washington would rather benefit from the status quo instead of fighting to fix it. That’s why she’s fighting to change the way Washington works and hold people in power accountable.
Marcy will work to end the special privileges politicians give themselves — banning members of Congress and their families from trading stocks and stopping Congressional pay raises.
She’s also taking on the powerful corporations driving up utility costs – reining in billion-dollar giveaways to massive data center companies, and cracking down on utility companies that use bribery and rate-rigging to pad their profits at families’ expense. Marcy will make these companies return every dime gained through corruption back to ratepayers and put executives who bribe and officials who take bribes behind bars.
And she’s finishing the fight she has led to release the Epstein Files — demanding the entire files be made public and those involved be held accountable, regardless of their party, wealth, connections, or power.
